Creation Care

Memorial UMC is a member of One Home One Future, a multi-faith campaign to strengthen vitality, relevance, and community connection across generations in local congregations nationwide. We are part of a visible effort to invite creation care and climate action, no matter if you are just getting started or already engaging.

Initiatives take on site:

Recycling in every room
Refillable water bottle station
LED lightbulbs
"Turn Off Lights" and "Please Close Door" signs to save energy.
Increasing use of real cups and utensils instead of single-use items
Using up what we have instead of buying new (e.g. hospitality items and furniture)
Xeriscaping with more to come. Xeriscaping, as defined by National Geographic, is the practice of designing landscapes to reduce or eliminate the need for irrigation.
We'll be updating our labyrinth to become a Sacred Grounds or Certified Wildlife Habitat in 2024.
Composting is in discussion for the campus.
